Genesis of The Ayurveda Way
It is said that when a student is ready, the teacher appears.
I am deeply grateful to my ancestors and lineage of teachers extending back to ancient times for appearing in my life, for lighting a lamp of hope and transformation in my heart, and inspiring every page of The Ayurveda Way.
I am also grateful to the editor of The Ayurveda Way, Sarah Guare, whose heartfelt desire to learn Ayurveda in an accessible way manifested this book.
Sarah had tried learning Ayurveda from several books and other sources online, but was not satisfied with what she had discovered. She felt that the science was being presented in a way that was far more complicated than necessary, and was determined to find a way to learn Ayurveda in a way that could really speak to her, and meet her where she was at.
She found some of my articles posted on EverydayAyurveda.com, and decided to track back to my website, where she sent me a message requesting me to write an introductory Ayurveda book.
Shortly after my wonderful agent, Lisa DiMona from the esteemed Writer’s House literary agency, came on board to support me in my literary adventure, I launched a pilot Ayurveda staff training program at Alameda County Probation Department. There was an overwhelming response of interest from probation staff, who wished to join the program in larger numbers than we could actually accommodate.
The curriculum of the 8-week staff training program yielded incredible health improvement results for the 30 accepted participants. 100% of them recommended the training. 95% feel it improved their work performance and effectiveness, and they further self-reported these health improvement outcomes:
47% reduction in aches and pains
46% better sleep
34% greater physical energy
31% higher productivity levels
29% improvement in digestion
80% report improved clarity of mind
79% report improved ability to cope with stress
75% report improved ability to be present
That pilot program curriculum development marked the official genesis of the contents of The Ayurveda Way.
My deepest intention with this book and with my work in the world is that it may be of service to many more people seeking to live healthier, happier, and more stress-free lives.
